Thomas Cohen, frontman of punk band S.C.U.M., is back after a four year break with his solo debut Bloom Forever. If your expectations are of rackety guitars and drum smashing then look the other way. Thomas Cohen takes a 180 degree turn, filling his tracks with light melodic guitars and introspective bass lines. His intentions are to tell a story, his story. The headlines can say what they want about his in the limelight lifestyle, but his lyrics compose the truth.
In his new single ‘Honeymoon’, Cohen recounts the birth of his second child, giving an inside look into his personal life. The track is layered with poignant saxophone playing and jazzy drumming. Thomas Cohens return to the stage marks a step for him and we are all excited to hear the journey that he has embarked in the past few years.
Bloom Forever is out 6 May 2016 via Stolen Recordings. Catch him playing for Label Mates on 7 March 2016 at Moth Club.
